The Sulu State University School of Graduate Studies led by Prof. Masnona Asiri successfully conducted the Barangay Governance and Leadership Training themed “Empowering Grassroots Leadership: Advancing Responsive and Research-Based Barangay Governance,” held on May 2–4, 2026, at the Alumni Room, Graduate School Building, SSU.
The two-day training featured comprehensive morning and afternoon sessions aimed at enhancing the knowledge and competencies of barangay officials and participants. Discussions covered key areas such as the foundations of barangay governance, local autonomy, public accountability, and the roles, functions, and mandates of barangay officials.
The opening ceremony of the program was graced by the University President, Prof. Charisma S. Ututalum, CESE, who highlighted the importance of responsive leadership, ethical governance, and research-based decision-making at the grassroots level.
Through expert-led sessions and collaborative learning, the activity reaffirmed SSU’s commitment to strengthening community leadership and advancing quality public service through education and extension initiatives.
